THE BEGINNING:
This Volk adVenture was conceived early in 2009. Tanler, Tyson, and Toren, our sons convinced us that we HAD to attend the next World Cup Soccer tourney in June and July 2010 in South Africa! Because Chris and I had retirement in mind by that time, it seemed feasible. Our entire family is passionate about soccer. Tickets were procured in March 2009 and we were committed. Then reality hit: airfare was HUGE! So why not add a little more to the trip since we're traveling all that distance anyway? The around the world planning began and basic agenda was set by Fall of 2009: Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, Thailand, Egypt, Jordan, Zimbabwe, maybe Zambia and finally South Africa. May 6--July 1, 2010, 57 days. We'll be posting some comments and a few pictures and links every so often on this Vlog or others related. Follow us along if you wish.
